There is a charming place in Cancun´s Hotel Zone where you can swim with dolphins and have an amazing experience. The popular La Isla Shopping Village mall is home to the Interactive Aquarium of Cancun, the only aquarium of this vacation destination.
La Isla Shopping Village is settled next to the Nichupte Lagoon in Kukulcan Boulevard km 12.5 just steps away from Kukulcan Plaza, and can be easily reached by public transportation. At the Interactive Aquarium of Cancun besides swimming with the dolphins, you can also marvel with the stunning views to the lagoon.
This is a great site where you can swim with dolphins in Cancun during your shopping spree in La Isla Shopping Village or right before you have lunch at one of the fabulous restaurants that can be found in the mall; it also is one of the favorite family activities to do in Cancun.
The Interactive Aquarium of Cancun offers two different dolphin swim programs; the Advanced Program and the Educational Program, each one designed for a unique experience with dolphins.
The Advance Program in the Aquarium Cancun is quite similar to the Royal Dolphin Program in Isla Mujeres. But instead of immersing in the ocean, you can swim and play with the dolphins in a fresh water pool that allows you great visibility in a more tranquil environment.
This dolphin swim program in Cancun program includes activities full of action and speed, as participants have free time with the dolphins, kiss them, and enjoy platform interaction, as well as the all-time favorite foot push rush.
The Educational Program offered at the Interactive Aquarium Cancun consists of an encounter in shallow waters where participants can swim with dolphins and learn more about the dolphin´s physical characteristics, intelligence and amazing talents.
The duration of the Advance dolphin swim program in the Aquarium Cancun is of 55 minutes, and participants must be at least 4 feet tall to be part of the swim. For the Educational Program the minimum height is of 3.6 feet and the program duration is of 30 minutes. Both programs will include entrance to the Aquarium.
Visitors to the Aquarium Cancun can continue their experience at the fish exhibition and observe thousands of species of tropical fish. At the interactive area children and adults will be able to touch manta rays and turtles, and there´s also a fantastic program to feed Bull Sharks and see Tiger Sharks up-close in addition to the dolphin swim.

Hi There. its my ambition before i leave this world to swim with dolphins. I did go to a dolphinarium in cyprus ready to swim with these adorable mammels but when i arrived, it was a small pool – the dolphins were bribed with food to interact with humans and the whole thing seemed very unnatural and money orientated! Is there anywhere i can go to swim with them with is more in their natural environment and where the dolphins actualy WANT to interact with humans?
I look forward to your reply. christine

Thank you for your comment. Actually, in Cancun and Riviera Maya there are several locations that offer dolphin swim programs in the ocean such as Dolphin Discovery in Isla Mujeres (departs from Cancun) and Puerto Aventuras (Riviera Maya). Xcaret Park, XelHa Park and Delphinus in Riviera Maya are other three locations that offer these programs. At this sites, you can swim with the dolphins in the ocean, inside sea pens where sea water and other organism flow naturally through a series fences. The pens are there to provide safety for both dolphins and participants, allowing you to swim in the dolphin´s natural habitat.
